Superiority Complex And Other Disorders

There was a time, not too long ago, when birds and pigs got along.

Their comradeship was not due to any extremely cordial interaction between them, for the aves and the hogs did not mingle much except for the rare occasions when they shared a table and some gravy. Indeed, it seemed, that the reason they were on good terms at all was that they didn’t mingle too much, nor could they if they even wanted.

The porkers were made to stay on the ground, occasionally spying on some of their winged acquaintances above, occasionally telling tall tales to themselves that perhaps someday, they can be up there too.
Their fine feathered friends, if they were there, would be smiling and nodding, chuckling softly among themselves. Ahh, these adorable little pink things, they would chirp, dreaming to be like us. How cute.

And so the birds flew away content, smiling down at their ever grounded, assuredly lesser compadres. To them, all was correct in the Grand Scheme of things.
That was, of course, all before swine flu.
