Answer The Call

“Hello?”

“Don’t say anything and don’t hang up.”

“…”

“Good. – Now, listen very carefully; I won’t repeat this again. It is critical that you hear and understand exactly what I tell you. This isn’t a joke. I’m not pulling a prank. This is real; the threat is real. Lives are at stake! – You can save them and I’m someone who will help you.”

“…”

“From my vantage point I can see and hear things before they happen to you. Being the eyes and ears of this operation, I’ll give you esoteric details about your surroundings but I can’t tell you what to do. You’ll have to decide for yourself. Time is of the essence, so make your choice quickly.”

“…”

“The situation is this: In the blue mailbox outside; in the hatch, taped under the top, is an envelope. The contents of that envelope can only be made known to you if you choose it. Across the street is an unmarked police car. The officer there is responding to a ‘four-eighty-four’.”

“…”

“Take the envelope or tell the officer about it- it’s your choice.”
