Trapped and Alone

Leo opened his mouth, but no sounds could escape. He tried to take a step forward, but was stopped by a wall he couldn’t see. What’s going on? he thought. He pushed against the invisible force, but nothing happened.

People were starting to stare. A few of them smiled and laughed, but he couldn’t hear them. All he could see was their joyful faces, completely uncaring to his predicament.

He pounded on the barrier, tried to shout, but yet again his attempts at sound were futile.

A crowd had gathered, they were all smiling, apparently taking pleasure at his plight.

He felt his way along the barrier till he came to a corner. He followed the second wall till he hit another corner. Then another. Then another…

He was trapped in a box that nobody could see, and nobody would help him out. They just stood there laughing.

Leo stopped, frowned. He had given up. There was no escaping. He sat on the ground and began to cry. The crowd dispersed.

Night fell, and Leo was alone.
