Purity, Incarnate (or, the foolish Creative Writing student)
emptiness,
barren
and
beautiful
True Confession:
Alright, boys and girls, this piece was satire. Inspired by the words of Mighty-Joe Young:
“he is almost to the celebrity status that he could say nothing on the story and ten people will comment”
The idea here was the pretentious high-school/college kid who thinks he’ll be creative and rebellious by turning in a blank piece of paper as his creative writing thesis, with the explanation that “it’s a demonstration of purity, beauty, and the endless potential each of us has within ourselves.”
Of course the teacher replies “or, from a teacher’s perspective, this could be an example of freedom!”
“Yes, that too!” Says the student.
“You demonstrate your freedom by not doing your assignment, in order to show the world that, no matter what the situation, you always have a choice.”
“Exactly!”
“And as a teacher, I must further the demonstration by pointing out that every choice has a consequence. I’m giving you an F.”
