It is written that The Healer lived and taught the magical arts for 102 years before her life was brought to an end. She had been banished her tribe, witnessed the growth of magic, and the rise of civilisation. She had given magic back to the people through charm and simple spells, and had watched as a few of her apprentices became selfish, profiting from (and abusing) their talents. She had also seen a gradual divide between her students, varying philosophies leading to angry disputes.

But what she did not see was her betrayer.

Many years before her death, one of her students had rebelled, calling her weak-minded and foolish. He felt that the gift of magic was given by the gods as a symbolic crown, separating the practitioners from the common man. It was his belief that they were the Chosen, the favoured of the gods, and thus were at liberty to do as they please.

This student’s name was Choryl.
