A Brief History, Part 2 [Magic Theory, Pt. 11]
The Healer recognised the danger in Choryl’s views and in his temper, and regretted teaching him. She cast him out, forcing him to live on his own, forging his own way. Many consider this to be The Healer’s greatest mistake.
This was the beginning of the Schism, which divided the magic users into the three primary philosophies around the time of the Mage War.
Over the next few decades things seemed to be peaceful, with Choryl gone. The Healer’s attention returned to the selfish, the devout, and the fledgling, admonishing, praising, and instructing each respectively. She distanced herself from those who would profit from the weak. She praised and encouraged her talented students, and did her best to train new initiates.
Many of her old students had become masters themselves, and were now teaching their own pupils.
Magic was becoming more widely accepted, and the land was prosperous and peaceful.
But Choryl had also been hard at work, and he had vengeance in his heart. In time, he would return.
