A Brief History, Part 7 [Magic Theory, Pt. 16]

Leaderless and conquered, the Kirva went into hiding. The Lendrii outlawed Kirvan magic, and began a manhunt in search of any Kirva that might have gone into hiding. Any who were found were given two options: quit practising magic, or die. Many wizards fled in order to avoid this decision, and many more simply complied, or went underground with their art. There were very few executions.

A police force was established among the citizens and Lendrii mages, in order to prevent the practice of Kirvan magic. Anyone suspected would be interrogated and punished accordingly if found guilty.

Sandren and the Sh’al did not approve of Durien’s actions, and they distanced themselves from the Lendrii. They vowed to stay true to The Healer’s way, devoting themselves to peaceful magics and study. They even went so far as to vow only to take life if unavoidable, prefering instead to use their own life to summon magical power. They performed healing and taught magic to any who requested it.

This finalised the Schism.
