One is the Loneliest Number

Avatar Author: Ronnie I have a hard time writing anything unless it makes me feel small and afraid. The universe is immense, and I am but a speck. Read Bio

No one would write my obituary.

Great challenge entry. It sums up so much about the sadness of this narrator’s life, and even has a hint of mystery since it could be taken as a post-mortem lament.

    :) Thanks!

Wow. Saying so much in so few words.

  4. Avatar .:Band Baby:.

this has a lotttt of backgroud with so few words!

  5. Avatar strawberrymint

Brilliantly crafted. Twenty Five characters have rarely said so much.

  6. Avatar StudMuffin (LoA)

Two can be as bad as one. It’s the loneliest number since the number one.

  7. Avatar bluefish

    I love it.

  8. Avatar Music-Hearted

Wow. It says so much in only those 6 words. Excellent job!

    Congratulations!
Picking a winner out of all the great entries was not easy, but you won for three reasons.

One: Despite the clever title, it neither added nor took from the overall content. It was my own fault for not being specific enough in the rules, but I tried to ignore the titles as the entire idea should be encapsulated in the six words. As they were in yours.

Two: The gut emotional reaction that the story evoked was real and intense.

Three: The number of possibilities and ideas evoked. You have depression, a sense of mortality, a concern/contempt about the feelings of others, and a sense of ego.

    Excellent work.

This is great. Really, really great. One of those “sitting at my desk, drinking my coffee, checking out ficly, and then suddenly stopping to re-read it a few times because it’s all, ‘wow, that’s the perfect entry for this challenge’” and whatnot.

It’s difficult to think of a way to make six words more meaningful.
