“Uncle Mal, uncle Mal! Jayne’s chasing me again!”
Jasmine flew into the dining hall and hid behind his chair. She grinned up at him.
“She started it,” Jayne said. “She poked me in the eye.”
Mal raised an eyebrow. “And that gives you license to chase a five year old all over my ship?”
“Yeah?” Jayne scratched the back of his neck.
“Wash! How many times do I have to tell you to keep your little terror away from Jayne?”
Wash paused in the doorway and grinned. “What did she do this time?”
“Poked me in the eye. My shooting eye.”
“C’mere pumpkin.”
Jasmine ran into her daddy’s arms and let him sling her over his shoulder. “You just wait til your mother hears about this. She’ll be so proud.” Jasmine giggled.
“Daddy, can we play dinosaurs?”
“Yes we can,” Wash said, carrying her off.
“I didn’t know better, I’d say Zoe’s still mad at you,” Mal remarked, returning to his guns.
“Yeah but for what?” Jayne asked.
“Just have a think about it Jayne. It’ll come to you.”
Jayne made a face and stalked out.
