The 10 Laws [Magic Theory, Pt. 2]

There are 10 basic laws to magical theory, the first being the primary tenet upon which all other laws are based. These 10 laws are as follows:

1. All magical energy stems from life itself.
2. To collect magical energy, you must sacrifice life.
3. The more potent the life force sacrificed, the greater the magical energy gained.
4. The more life taken, the more energy gained.
5. Collecting life energy does not require the death of the organism from which you collect, but collecting the organism’s complete life energy will result in its death. There is a balance.
6. Magical energy can be stored in non-living objects, called charms, which can be saved for later.
7. The energy in a charm doesn’t have to be used all at once, and can be “refilled.”
8. The size of the charm does has little effect on its magical capacity.
9. One can temporarily harness life force directly as magical energy, removing the need for charms.
10. Life force can be regained through healing, so long as adequate life force remains.
