Oh, man, do I feel bad for that guy. I’m wondering if he’s a dick, if he misinterpreted, or if she’s suppressing herself? To me, the “what do you have to lose” line hints at the first option.

Anyway, well-written. The first couple paragraphs left me with the (intended? unintended?) impression that the girl thinks of the guy as a stud and herself as not-so-hot, which adds even more kick to it.

sounds like me and my friend/boyfriend. though our relatioship is at the point of being together. the longer distance is a rather pain. and this story hit the spot for me :)

Busted! And new is missing a k. Otherwise, well formed. Really well told overall, I like the flow. I also like comfortable silences.

looks like another nice guy stumbled into that “I just wanna be friends” vortex. but it’s not the woman’s fault, men do it to themselves.

i like the feel of this piece. has just enough of an open end to it to make you wonder.

I was wondering whether he chases her and takes her fragile emotional state and says the right things to fix this, or whether it breaks the tension and they stay friends, or whether this was the last straw and they parted for seemingly forever. Maybe they are destined to meet in all their lives, over and over, throughout eternity. Maybe she guessed right and everything happens anyway exactly as she predicts, they succumb to temptation and then fall out of awe with each other. Wonder..

Hey Elsha. Good storyline. I was wondering about the way you said she stood away…they were sitting during the initial paragraphs. Just a little oddity which may deter from the structure.

i meant her to stand, to remove herself from his embrace, to stand up from their sitting position and walk at least a few steps away.

I found this very evocative. I especially liked the image of their legs together, his so much longer than hers. A very nice piece.

Beautiful description, and then a heck of a twist out of the perfect moment into tragic reality, or at least how she perceives reality.
