Ouch. My condolences. This is the sort of thing that should only happen to old, beat-up cars ready to die anyway.

wow. where do you live again? remind me not to move there. lol.

As an ex insurance producer, I am reminded of the difference between comprehensive and collision coverage for autos.

I’m sorry your dreamy new car and the house was damaged, but I am grateful that no one was hurt physically.

we were safe, and the neighbors next door were safe, but had to climb out a window.
This was our first house, and the turning point for us, never since have we owned a new vehicle, nor a house.
I had that car for 32 days.
We fixed the torn shingles, guttering, and porch railing with insurance money. The carport was destroyed. The tree removal company was flexible enough to not make us pay the deductible and took the insurance money alone for the removal.
The car insurance paid for all but 2000 dollars of the car. THAT was a bum deal.

How awful! I have to second Duck, glad to know that only cars and houses were hurt and not people.

I can watch people get shot and hacked and shredded all kinds of ways in the movies and giggle, but I always wince when a nice car gets smashed.

Was it raining sideways, in addition to straight-line winds? lol
one of my friends had a tree fall right into her bedroom. Startling stuff.

… and how many minutes earlier were you and your family in the car?!! Sounds like you got off lightly…

yes we were in the car about 15 minutes before..
and the rain hadn’t even been coming down.. it was just very high wind up the street..
I guess my car made the paper, trapped under the tree, but I never saw it. And I guess my husband was on the news, too. But our power was out for 30 hours..

Man! I’m o grateful everyone’s OK. Very sad about your new car & first house, though.
